Do You Love Me is a personal journey through Lebanon’s audiovisual memory, composed entirely of archival footage. It is a love letter to Beirut, spanning 70 years of film, TV, home videos, and photography, exploring the Lebanese collective psyche marked by joy and intimacy, destruction and loss. Through the eyes of citizens, filmmakers, and artists, the film reconstructs a fragmented history in a country without a national archive, celebrating creative expression as both resistance, renewal, and a means to preserve memory.
THE TEAM
Do You Love Me was directed, written, and co-produced by Lana Daher, who began developing the project in 2018. Both a research initiative and a cinematic work, the film is built from years of searching and listening, gathering material from private collections and abandoned archives. It draws from over 100 works of independent Lebanese cinema, alongside countless home videos, photographs, podcasts, music, and other media. This website serves as an index, representing only a fraction of the resources used in the film, with the hope of contributing to the sharing and preservation of Lebanon’s collective memory.
Lana Daher worked closely with Qutaiba Barhamji, who meticulously edited the film and also co-wrote it with her. The sound design by Pierre Armand played a vital role in shaping the final narrative. Archive content was licensed by Denis Liakhov, who also managed all post-production operations, while color grading was expertly handled by Alexis Lambotte.
The production was led by Jean Laurent Csinidis of Films de Force Majeure in France, with support from My Little Films in Lebanon (Lana Daher) and Wood Water Films (Jasper Mielke) in Germany. Nora Bertone served as Post-Production Supervisor, ensuring seamless integration of all elements.
